Research in Thurgau Has Many Faces

At the joint summer gathering of the Foundation for Science and Research of the Canton Thurgau (TSWF), the combined expertise of more than 50 researchers became visible. The Foundation's four institutes bring together knowledge in the fields of cellular biology and immunology, behavioral economics, materials systems engineering, and digital transformation, thereby making a significant contribution to the research landscape in Thurgau.

On 23 June 2026, researchers from the Institute of Cell Biology and Immunology (BITG), the Thurgauer Wirtschaftsinstitut (TWI), the Institut für Werkstoffsystemtechnik (WITG), and the Thurgau Institute for Digital Transformation (TIDIT) came together for a joint summer meeting. In addition to the four institutes, the Scientific Network of the International Lake Constance Region (W4) was also represented. W4 is committed to fostering cross-border collaboration among universities and higher education institutions in research, teaching, and practical application.

The aim of the event was to promote exchange across institutional boundaries and strengthen the sense of belonging within the research community. At the same time, the gathering provided an opportunity to learn more about the institutes' different research focuses and to showcase the wide range of expertise within the Foundation and its extended network.

A joint group photograph featuring all researchers places the people behind the research projects at center stage. It symbolizes the close collaboration and interdisciplinary exchange that characterize the Foundation's work.

For partners from business, industry, and academia, the TSWF, together with its institutes and in collaboration with W4, provides access to a strong scientific network with broad interdisciplinary expertise.

By bringing together competencies from a wide range of disciplines, these institutions create the conditions for innovative research in Thurgau and far beyond the canton's borders.
